Postural Asessment
Posture Evaluation and Correction
Shoulder stiffness and back pain are associated with changes throughout the spine.
Posture changes with age. Although there are individual differences, the way it changes is largely due to postural habits in everyday life and the decline of muscle strength. Posture changes gradually through casual sitting and repetitive tasks.
Japan is an aging society, and spinal diseases are increasing rapidly. We believe it is very important to check and prevent spinal and intervertebral disc deformities and pelvic tilting from a young age in order to avoid major spinal surgeries in the elderly. Starting with X-rays, objective evaluation of the stiffness and weakness of the muscles around the spine (abdominal and back muscles) and the loss of flexibility of the leg and thigh muscles is important to improve posture and prevent the progression of stiff shoulders and back pain.
Recently, spinal changes have been occurring in younger middle and high school students due to the influence of smartphones, mobile gaming, and decreased physical activity. Children, for example, who have a lot of hip and knee pain and injuries are now being linked to the spine.
Our clinic treats patients who come to us with shoulder or back pain by performing a full-body postural evaluation as much as possible so that we can provide them with total care. Let's start now to do what we can to minimize future postural changes.
